If you’re in A&P or thinking about taking the class before you apply to medic school, here’s my big tip:
Any time your teacher mentions the sympathetic or parasympathetic nervous system or acetylcholine, PAY VERY CLOSE ATTENTION!
…and if you don’t understand it, ask as many questions as you need to.
It’ll come in handy later.
That is all.

I’ll second that suggestion! Also, pay attention to pH and its various derangements.
Good point CV. Anything you can learn about acid/base will also be a huge help.
AMEN!
Believe me, I’m right there with ya.
im a basic going to medic…any tips?
Mistie I’m not an EMT nor a paramedic nor anything really. However my tips for you are
- have a positive attitude
- know EMT-B well
- work hard
- study effectively
- learn how to take vocational tests (NREMT tests are designed like technician tests such as Micrsoft certification tests not like education tests such as MCAT & LSAT)
- manage time well
- don’t work during training
- communicate with your instructor(s) well
That’s a great list of points to focus on Tim.
Regarding EMTs contemplating medic school, I actually just wrote a post with some ‘pre medic school tips’. You’ll find it above.
